Microsoft reveals Xbox One, the 'new generation' console
Tue May 21, 2013
Sorry, desktop computer games are no longer offline. You can thank Diablo 3 and Sim City for that. PC games going forward are going to be designed with "always on" internet DRM.
Search and rescue winds down a day after deadly Oklahoma tornado
Tue May 21, 2013
The only problem I can find with everyone's assumption that the people of Moore were wrong to rebuild, is the fact that there that the town is over 120 years old, yet the first ever tornado to hit it was 15 years ago (a weak F1 that struck in Oct 1998). For 100 years prior to that incident, no repor …
Breast cancer bras a no-go for Victoria's Secret
Mon May 20, 2013
In reply to: Athyna #8 More, than that, they actually flew her and her mom out to meet in person, to discuss her (and the company's) options for filling such a need. By all accounts, they were genuinely interested, but just could not provide it in a cost-effective manner. How many company heads now …
Chorus of critics greets new psychiatric manual release
Fri May 17, 2013
@Errickson Under the guidelines in the new manual, if a person spends more than 14 days mourning the loss of a spouse or family, they are now diagnosed as clinically depressed, and therefor can be prescribed antidepressants. 14 DAYS = Clinical Depression now! In my real world experience, it is norma …
'Brave' princess' sexy makeover not permanent, Disney says
Thu May 16, 2013
In reply to: NJRichie #5 It's known as a "bait and switch". Disney/Pixar presented young girls with a strong and healthy role model that they could easily identify with. Then, once all those daughters accepted her as a role model, Disney turns around and changes her into yet another over-glamified …
Angelina Jolie: I had double mastectomy because of high breast cancer risk
Tue May 14, 2013
Karin, I think you need to take a step back, and re-evaluate some of your views. Do you honestly believe the test and doctor recommendations are part of some sort of male conspiracy to rob you of your womanhood? That's not reason or wisdom talking. That's Misandry. The choice to have healthy tissue …
Questions — and mysteries — in the Cleveland kidnapping case
Thu May 9, 2013
Ry has the right of it. If the brothers were involved in any way, the women would have already implicated them, and they'd be sitting in jail alongside their brother.
Microsoft retools Windows 8 to address gripes
Tue May 7, 2013
In reply to: Anthony Boone #12 Except that right-clicking in the lower-left corner does not bring up a menu of installed programs, it only brings up the control panel and various system tools. This means if you have any pre-Windows 8 software installed, you cannot access it at all unless it happens …
Convicted of sex assault - then cleared - fighter pilot sparks protest at Tucson base
Thu Apr 25, 2013
I'm with everyone who thinks this situation smells fishy. It's one thing to be overturned on appeal, in a court of law. It is quite another for a commanding officer to just overturn it without due process. If he was truly innocent, then he should be able to stand before a judge for an appeal.
Americans head north for affordable college degrees
Wed Apr 24, 2013
Tuition in American universities is so expensive, because there are at least 2 administrative positions for every 1 professor. Case in point: When I attended a local college back in 1991, the administrative offices took up only a small wing in the main classroom building. When I returned there in 20 …
